FRAUD ALERT!
Text Scam Targeting Farmers State Bank Customers
We want to make you aware of a phishing scheme currently circulating in our community. Fraudsters are sending text messages that look like they are from Farmers State Bank. A common version reads:
“Farmers State Bank; your card was used for $879 at Target. If you didn’t make this, click here to cancel.”
This message is not from Farmers State Bank. It is an attempt to trick you into clicking a malicious link and sharing your personal information.
Scammers are not targeting you individually, and your personal information has not been compromised. Instead, they are sending the same text to large blocks of phone numbers at once, hoping that one of the recipients will be a Farmers State Bank customer and click the link.
What You Should Do
-
Do not click the link.
-
Do not reply to the text.
-
Delete the message immediately.
-
If you clicked the link or entered any information, call us right away.
How to Recognize a Scam Text
-
Typos and poor grammar (such as “wasx used” or “you didn’t made this”).
-
Messages that create panic or urgency.
-
Links that ask you to log in or share personal details.
-
